Since 2006 he has been at the helm of Nu Jazz Entertainment the leading digital Jazz label in the industry. In the last few years he has become the de-facto Czar of Classical, Jazz, & Non-popular music digital initiatives and been a featured speaker at MIDEM, APAP, DEW, CMA, CD Baby's DIY Music Conference, the NY Media Festival, and the Digital Music Conferences, among others as the leading thought leader in those genres.
Not only has he helped guide countless arts organizations through the rigorous task of transforming their IP assets into vibrant digital content, but he has helped to usher in a new age in Classical & Jazz by creating best practices for engaging fans and increasing the scope of engagement. Jerald Miller is a music industry strategist, producer, and founder of Nu Jazz Entertainment, a multi-division company dedicated to advancing jazz, classical, and other non-mainstream music in the global digital economy.
Since its inception, Nu Jazz has been at the forefront of innovation in music distribution and digital engagement. In 2008, through Nu Jazz Records, Miller led the release of The Overcomer’s Suite by Jimmy Greene via an exclusive partnership with Apple iTunes. The project introduced one of the first uses of pre-paid digital download cards in jazz, combining music with bonus multimedia content and redefining how audiences engage with recorded work.
In 2009, Nu Jazz became the first jazz label to release a full video album on iTunes with Jimmy Greene in Concert: The Overcomer’s Suite, expanding the possibilities of digital storytelling in jazz. The company went on to establish strategic partnerships with platforms such as Amazon Music, eMusic, and Rhapsody, pioneering platform-specific releases and enhanced digital content experiences.
In 2010, Miller founded Nu Jazz Management & Consulting, advising artists, nonprofits, and cultural institutions on marketing, audience development, digital transformation, and revenue strategy. His work has supported organizations including Jazz at Lincoln Center, helping to expand audience reach, strengthen engagement, and adapt to the evolving music landscape.
In 2011, Nu Jazz partnered again with iTunes to release the first jazz album in the “iTunes LP” format, An Open Letter to Thelonious (Platinum LP Edition) by Ellis Marsalis. This groundbreaking project reimagined the album as an interactive digital experience, combining audio, video, photography, and literary content within a single immersive platform.
In 2018, Miller expanded his impact into major cultural initiatives by creating the Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition, a groundbreaking competition designed not only to recognize excellence, but to actively launch and sustain the careers of emerging artists—establishing a new legacy for jazz competitions. That same year, he founded the Huntington International Jazz Festival, the first jazz festival in the history of West Virginia, bringing world-class jazz performance to a previously underserved region and expanding access to the art form.
Today, Miller’s work extends beyond recording and distribution into artist sustainability, global market access, and cross-cultural exchange. He is the creator of Jazz-Con, a global virtual conference connecting artists and industry leaders across more than 20 countries, and continues to develop initiatives that provide independent musicians with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to build sustainable careers.
Miller has become a leading figure in the international jazz industry and a sought-after speaker at major music business conferences around the world, where he shares his insight, deep knowledge, and history of innovation across the jazz and classical music sectors.
